Wiltshire Council Unitary Councillor Lyneham Ward
On May 2nd, there will be elections for both Wiltshire Unitary and Lyneham & Bradenstoke Parish Council.

You should have received a polling card indicating where you should go to vote. If you vote by post, you should still get a polling card which will tell you that you have a postal vote.

If you do not have a polling card then it may be that you are not on the electoral register. If you want to check, or to change to a postal vote, you have until April 17th to do so.

The website is http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/../unitaryandparishelections.htm or you can ring 0300 456 0112. You will not be able to make any changes after 5pm on April 17th. When you go to vote (or receive your postal vote) you will be given 2  ballot papers. They will probably be different colours:

One will be for the Unitary Authority – you choose only ONE candidate for this.

The other will be for Lyneham and Bradenstoke Parish Council. You can choose UP TO 11 names out of the 17 on this list. You do not have to choose all 11 if you don’t wish to.

The following is a short guide to candidates nominated for election as a Unitary Councillor for Lyneham Ward. It must be stressed, the village website is acting totally independent and neutral to the election process and the information provided here is purely a way to illustrate to the community the candidates who have put themselves forward. We are using this platform as a medium for candidates to introduce themselves to you. Electors must not see the absence of a photo or write up as negative. We are trying to get the information in the short timescale.

A poll will be taken on Thursday 2nd May 2013 between the hours of 7:00 am and 10:00 pm. Polling stations will be Lyneham St Michael and All Angels Church Hall and Bradenstoke Village Hall. This poll will be taken together with the Wiltshire Council Unitary Division for this Lyneham Ward electoral area.

WILTSHIRE residents will get real-time updates during next month’s elections in the county.

Throughout election day and the count on May 3 Wiltshire Council will be tweeting live from all the key venues keeping people informed on the day’s activities. Being a Wiltshire Councillor is not just about what we do in the local community, it is about getting it right for the whole of Wiltshire. Over the last four years, I have done my best to help local residents and groups, and my work within the Council is equally important.

I believe that making Wiltshire Council a great place for our officers to work means that we all benefit. It’s all about balancing budgets and delivering good services, with the customer - you - at the heart of everything we do.

I have spent a lot of time and effort out and about in the community, both as a councillor and getting stuck in to many other areas like helping with fetes &  running the LINK6&RWB scheme. I love helping people in any way I can.

If you agree that I have done a good job , then please vote for me on May 2nd.

Hello, thought I'd let you know that I'm on the May 2nd ballot as a candidate for UKIP for the ward of Lyneham and Bradenstoke. It should be noted that I'm the only candidate on the ballot who actually lives in Lyneham. You can quote me here "I feel we have been robbed of the opportunity to a referendum on the EU.

Every general election we are promised one, but once in office it's put on the back burner. Also being a small island we have to do something radical about immigration, with Romania and Bulgaria joining the EU next year we are going to be stretched beyond what we can cope with.

I would like to see more police on the streets. More power being given to local government, our fisheries and farmers getting better prices. A change to our Human Rights laws, meaning we can deport known criminals and terrorists." The list is endless.

I have lived here for over twenty years, and have been both a Parish & District Councillor, because of this I feel well suited to become your voice on Wiltshire Council.

Wiltshire Council has to look at the bigger picture because many of its services have to meet national standards. This does not mean that smaller rural communities, or the less fortunate, should miss out, which is why I have led several campaigns over the years, the most recent to get amendments to the fortnightly waste collection for the benefit of people with medical problems.

Through the LibDems I was encouraged to keep Nick Harvey MP, the former Armed Forces Minister, informed on our communities wishes for the Lyneham base, which I believe helped to bring DTTI here.

If you elect me I will do all I can to make our community and individual priorities Wiltshire Council's priorities.
